Depends on the type of trees. I would imagine that you would periodically need to clean your gutters anyway right? And if the storm are so bad that you need to worry about trees falling over, I think you would have larger problems to worry about. Thanks for the glass half empty comments.

That may be true, but what about things like leaves in your gutters? Also, if you live in a stormy area, what if they were to fall?

plant live oak trees - they are very hardy and the way their grain is formed they are very hard to snap in two or break.
