Tip : Plant a Tree

Or better yet, plant several trees. Three trees, planted strategically around your home, can save $100 to $250 a year in heating and cooling costs.

  • That may be true, but what about things like leaves in your gutters? Also, if you live in a stormy area, what if they were to fall?

  • Depends on the type of trees. I would imagine that you would periodically need to clean your gutters anyway right? And if the storm are so bad that you need to worry about trees falling over, I think you would have larger problems to worry about. Thanks for the glass half empty comments.

  • plant live oak trees - they are very hardy and the way their grain is formed they are very hard to snap in two or break.
